PENINSULA SHOW.

The Otago Peninsula A. and P. Society held its thirty-fourth annual show at Portobello on Saturday, The pleasure of the day’s outing was marred by the rain which came on early in the afternoon, and continued till the conclusion of the show. The takings at the gate were, however, well up to those of former year's, and (in this and some ether respects the society can congratulate itself on a successful gathering. The show of horses was a fairly good one, and the classes in this section attracted good entries, especially those for spring-oart horses. The hacks were also a good class, though they might have been brought into the ring in somewhat better condition, and in many cases also they were wrongly classed.. Of the draught horses, which were a very fair lot, the best were the spring carters (more especially those in the half-ton class, which brought out 11 entries). Several of the draught horses were wrongly classed, a similar state of affairs existing in the dogs, where the judges had to set to work and re-class the exhibits before making their awards. Among the cattle classes there was a good show of Ayrshires, but the Alderneys and shorthorns compared unfavourably with last year's exhibits. A word must be said as to the total lack of any docent accommodation for the reporters, the only provision being a small, box-liko apartment with two or three inches of water on the clay floor.
