RURAL EDUCATION.

AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE WANTED. MASTERTON, October 22. At the last meeting of the Wellington Education Board it was deided, on the mot Ton of Mr A. H. Vile, that a confer, enoe be held with representatives of a-ricultaral and local bodies m Wairarapa to consider the question of establishing an agricultural school. The conference took place in Maaterton yesterday, and was attended by representatives of the Masterton and Wairarapa Agricultural and Pastoral Associations, .--he Morton Eketahuna, Maunoeville, Wairarapa South, and Feaiherston County Councils, Masterton Borough Council, and other bodies. Mr Vile presided, and pointed out the defect in the ; education system through there being no institution in the Dominion at which children taking the rural course in elementary schools could complete their rural education In Australian States and other parts of the British Empire agricultural high schools and colleges were provided. After the matter had been thoroughly discussed a resolution was unammousjy passed to the effect that the time had arrived when the system of rural education in the Dominion should be started, and pointing out the facilities offered m the Wairarapa district for an agricultural school. It was further deewwd that the delegates present form themselves into a deputation to wait upon the Acting Minister of Education in reference to the matter.
