HIGH SCHOOLS GOVERNORS.
The monthly meeting of the Board of Governors of the Otago Boys and Girls High Schools was held yesterday afternoon, the following members being present: Messrs W. Burnett (acting-chairman), .L M. Gallaway, G. C. Israel, and L. W. Harris.
The Treasurer reported having gone over accounts and salaries to the amount of £624 3s lOd for the month of October, and recommended 1 that the same be paid.— This was agreed to, and cheques were drawn for the respective amounts. After allowing for this the banking account, showed a credit balance of £893 2s 3d. Mis>s Marchant wrote recommending the appointment of Miss G. Webster as temporary assistant teacher during the absence on Miss M'Leod on leave.—Agreed to. On the recommendation of the lady principal the board decided to grant Miss Little leave of absence for six months, to bake effect at the end of the school year, as a mark of the esteem in which she was held 1 , and in consideration of her long and valuable service. It was also decided to advertise for a teacher to take her place. Messrs Adams Bros, applied on behalf of Mr Wm. Brown, the lessee of sections 77. 78, and 79, lot 9, Strath Taieri, for a reduction of rent to 10s per acre per annum. —The board decided that it could not see its way to grant the application. Messrs Duncan and fMacGregor forwarded 1 a transfer of fease from the executors of the late Wm. Watson to Wm, Jennison. —The transfer was agreed to. .Mr Israel gave notice of motion that the board's resolution of the 20th July, 19il f deciding to close the rectory, bo rescinded.
