TEACHERS' SUPERANNUATION.

WELLINGTON, October 17. The Hon. T. Mackenzie, Acting Minister of Education, presided at the quarterly meeting of the Teachers' Superannuation Fuud Board to-day.' Under part 1 of " The Public Service Classification Act, 1908," which deals with the teachers' superannuation fund, pensions were granted to eight contributors, four of which were granted under the special extended provisions of section 12 of that act. To a widow the board granted the option of a pension of £lB per year, or a refund of her late husband's contributions, which amounted to £l6O. In another case a pension of £lB a year was granted to a widow. Allowances of 5s per week were made to each of the four children of deceased contributors, under part 9 of. "The Education Act, 1908," which is a consolidation of the original Teachers' Superannuation Acta. An allowance of £52 per year or a refund of his contributions was agreed to be made to a contributor who has retired medically unfit. Refunds of contributions were granted to. 34 contributors, who retired from the service before becoming entitled to benefits.
