October 6. Dear "Pasquin,"—The complimentary farewell concert to Miss Rene Queree; at the Opera House on Monday, was a complete success. Miss Queree, on the advice of Madame Carreno, goes to Berlin shorty to perfect her talent as a pianiste. She will study under Madame Carreno. Miss Queree has already studied at the Mar-shall-Hall Conservatoriurh, Melbourne. On Monday night she played the "Spinning song"- _ (Wagner-Liszt). Bop f hoven's oonberto i«n C major,, Goda.rd's meeturheM Italien, and a Chopin waltz. Miss Queree was heartily 'applauded. Mr Hamilton Hodges; of Auckland, came down specially to assist. His splendid voice was heard to much advantage in Wallace Freebooter songs and a trio of American Indian songs. Miss A?nes Segrief, Mi«s Phoebe Parsons, Mr C. H. Stephens, and Mr Frank Johnstone also assisted at what was one of the most delightful-concerts of the season.

The International Picture Company is . at present occupying the Opera House, showing a picture with the startling title "In the Grip of Alcohol." Th© picture is to be shown ricrht through the Dominion. The Bijou Picture Theatre was opened on Saturday night, when there was a laree attendance. Two matinees are held weekly at this latest addition to our picture halls. Mr "Joe" MacMahon was in town this week, and he reports that -the. new /'continuous" theatre he is interested in in Auckland is approaching completion, and will be orjened'in a few weeks' time. Mr Charles Berkeley is in town, and he States that in "Our Miss Gibbs" 'Welling-

tonians will have something to remember until "their hair turns grey," or words to that effect. . At Fullers' Theatre Royal Monme-- and Franz, who juggle with heavy weights and perform feats of strength f with the greatest ease, are the "stars.' Harry Sadler is still in the bill, and his popularity doos not seem to wane. >
