WIRELES TELEGRAPHY.
STATION AT NEW BRIGHTON. * CHRISTCHURCH, September 30. Referring to.the decision of the Government to establish a wireless station at New Brighton, the Mayor states that the site chosen is in every way suitable. It was desirable that the station should be near the sea and not in the vicinity of hills or. mountains. The site chosen 5s in the Domain between New Brighton and New Brighton North. The Government has taken about four acres for the station, and some adjacent land has also been purchased, giving .access to the station from the North New Brighton tramline. There ■will be access from all sides of the station and it is expected that the place will be? come very attractive to visitors. The poles will be 150 ft high, so that the station will be quite a prominent feature of the district. Olne condition imposed ■by the Boiough Council is that the Government should provide and maintain for the publia use a sunshine recorder in connection with the station. There will also bs a telegraph station and post office. The part of the Domain on .which the station is to be erected consists of sandhills, and is no* planted.
