TIMARU CATHOLIC CHURCH.

IMPRESSIVE OPENING CEREMONY. TIMARU, October 1. Considerable interest was taken in the opening of the new Catholic Church x here to-day. All the four Roman Cathblic bishops in New Zealand and about" 50 clergy were present, among the latter being Archdeacon . Devoy, who wae the second parish priest in Timaru. Part of the musical service was the "Ave Maria," composed for the occasion by Mrs Mangos, of Timaru. There was a beautiful day for the ceremony of blessing the new church, which is said to be the largest and one of the handsomest in the Dominion. The exterior is striking, and the interior very fine indeed. The church was crowded at the special service. Jbour bishops took part in the impressive ceremonial, Bishop Cleary, of Auckland, preaching.
