CLYDESDALES FOR N.Z.

The exports for the week ending sth August (says the Scottish Farmer) were miscellaneous, and relatively not numerous. Mr J. Boag. Middlerigg, Canterbury, New Zealand. shipped the celebrated prize horse Black Douglas (14599), which he purchased at Inverness from Mir George Alston, Loudounhill. ■ Darvel. Black Douglas was one of a succession of rwize-winni.ng colts and fillies bred by Mr Douglas, Balcaimey, Dailly. Ayrshire* and got by the Cawdor Cup cliaimpion, Revelantu. (11876), out of a finst-rate breeding mare by Mcntrav© Mac (9958) Since he was a yearling, colt Black Douglas has been constantly in the prize list, and that in strong competition. He is a particularly handsome horfc. with exceptional quality of bone and plenty size. His purchase for the New Zealand market indicates rather a< change -of fashion in horses in that eolonv. Mr Ernest Short, Parorangi, New Zealand, has purchased and shipped l several horses and mares through Mr George A. Ferguson, Surrandale, Elgin. One is the fine brood mare Bathgate (28223), by the noted prize and premium horse. Baron Ruby (11268). out of a mare by the Aberdeen premium ho.rse, P-nval Alexander (9997), with, jccrand-da'm

by the famous £9OO H. and A. S. two-year-old champion, M'Gamon (5818). Bathgate is a fine big mane, and has a filly ioai at foot by the premium horse Fyvie Baron (14681), which goes with her. Mr James Kiloatrick, Craigie Mains, Kilmarnock, sold to Mr George A. Ferguson, for exportation to Australia, the H. and A." S. short leet horse Udale (15434), a throe-year-old of good breeding, which took a good position at Inverness. He was gofc by Mr Ferguson’s noted prize horse Allancliale (12418), which bred successfully in several districts, and his dam was by the H. and A. S. £9OO champion horse. Prince Thomas (10262), a grand big darkcoloured horse, which bred capital stock in Aberdeenshire. Mr Wnu Malcolm, jun., Dunmore, Larbert, has just shipped' to Mr John Soott, Lyttelton, New Zealand, and late of Stirlingshire, the well-known two-year-old oolt Prince Osiris. This colt (says the N.B. Agriculturist) was bred by Mr James Veitoh, late of Summarston, Maryhill, and is by. Count Victor (12108), out of Carmen Sylvia, by Prince. Thomas. Count Victor, as is well known, was twice reserve for the Glasgow premium, while the air© of his dam, Prince Thomas, was champion at the Stirling Highland show some years ago. Prince Osiris is therefore very well bred. He is a typical oart horse, very well coloured, and full of quality, and should suit New Zealand -requirements in a special degree, having both size" and fine quality bones.
