WELLINGTON WING WHISPERS

By Petee Pak.

September 22. Dear "Pasquin,"—-The Scarlet Troubadours concluded their tour, here last night, when the concert chamber was .packed .to overflowing, and many had *°. be turned away.' The "Trdubs." were given an enthusiastic farewell, and they in return were very generous with encore numbers, so it was. just on 11 o'clock when the curtain was lowered to an accompaniment of cheers., The Troubadours are very popular here, and their return will be welcomed. They leave for Sydney to-day by the Mo an a, en route to Queensland. "The Bijou" is the name of our latest picture theatre, and it ijg to be opea«i n«xt

week. This theatre is just off Cuba street, and in a busy section of the city. It will hold 500 or 600 people, and has been so built.that there- are no pillars to obstruct the view.' Also the seats in the circle and stalls, are upholstered. It is understood that West's intend opening in St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown, the hall just vacated by the Star Picture Company, which has built a new theatre for its own purposes. Olarkei and Meynell's "Gay Gordons" have had a splendid run since the opening last week. It is good comedy, and the performers right up to the firm's standard. The "Gordons" will run. till next Wednesday, when "Sergeant Bruo" will succeed it/ Anita Diaz and her clever troupe of monkeys are the headlines at Fullers' just now. The turn is an exceptionally good one, and the simians go through their act in a manner which betokens a kind treatment. "Our Mks Gibbs" will be the next big show here, and Charles Berkeley writes that the young lady broke all records in Auckland. Alterations are being- carried out to Fullers' Skating Rink" to make suitable as a picture house. The Fullers will transfer the picture show from His Majesty's to the rink whilst the latter place is being rebuilt. Leonard Bofwick. the wonderful pianist, has been persuaded to give another recital here, and it will take place in the Town Hall to-morrow night. Barwick has charmed music lovers here, and there is sure to b? a great audience to-morrow evening.
