SHORTHORN CATTLE.
A VALUABLE IMPORTATION. WELLINGTON, May 28. A valuable consignment of blood stock, in the shape of 10 head of Lincoln red shorthorn cattle and one purebred shoi'thorn bull, arrived from Liverpool yesterday by the Drayton Grange. 'They are all consigned to Mr W. Taylor, Greenhill, Te Awamutu, Waikato. The pick of the lot is the shorthorn bull, Blitchley Admiral, a two-year-old beast of massive carriage, with a very masculine head. Among the Lincoln reds is a fine young bull, Brown Prince. Although quite a calf, he weighs about lScwt, and is an excellent specimen. The rest are Lincoln heifers, all in calf to pedigree stock. They coma from milking pedigree cows, and have been bought for Mr Taylor by Mr Edward H. Gartwright, Keddington Grange, South Lincolnshire. They were selected from the very best milking record herds under the charge of Mr Alfred Whiteman of County Durham cattle, and have stood the voyage well, and are in good condition. It is understood their value runs into a very high figure.
