WEST COAST OPPOSITION. (Feom Oua Own Correspondent.) GREYMOUTH, April 25. At a public meeting at the State collieries it was resolved—" That this meeting oi citizens of Runanga enter their most emphatic protest against the action of the Government in attempting to enforce upon the. people compulsory military training before first ascertaining the opinion of the people on the question." Mr Semple said that as an organiser of labour he intended to speak throughout New Zealand against the iniquity of the act. It was hinted that a policy of passive resistance might be adopted on the West Coast. The instructors do not appear to have a very desirable path to tread, for despite assertions to the contrary, tbe Labour party here is " dead against " the scheme.
