KING EDWARD MEMORIAL

LONDON, April 4,

The proposal to erect a King Edward memorial has aroused many protests in the newspapers and the House of Commons from those who 'wish to preserve the sylvan aspects of St. James’s Palace. Replying to a question in the House of Commons, Mr Dudley Ward promised to again suggest to the Mansion Hous« Committee the desirability of erecting Mr MacKennall’s statue of the late King in front of the Admiralty Arch .. in Trafalgar square. Ihe critics object to straightening the road and rebuilding St. James’s Bridge. The King Edward Memorial Mall site will be abandoned for another locality.
