There are 15,000 acres of good dairying country within three miles of Raetihi. Some farmers in the district are said to be making £SOO a year with 200 acres. Evidence that pillaging on board steamers from Homo is still being indulged in camo prominently under the notice of a Christchurch firm a few days ago. On opening a oase of goods just received, it was found that it had been, tampered with and about half of its contents had been extracted. The fi.nn estimates that goods valued at about £lO were taken.
