CLUTHA PRESBYTERY.

The Ciutha Presbytery met at Balclutha on March 31, when there were present — the ' Rev. Messrs "Ponder (Moderator) and S. W. Currie, Miller, Blair, W. T. Currie, Brown, Williams, Speace, Watson, Tylee, and "Cuttle (ministers), and Messrs Leslie, Tait, Clarke, Russell, M'Kee, Rose, Lockhart,' Morton, Kelly, and Clapperton (elders). The Rev. R. S. Allen wrote apologising for absence. Reports were handed in on behalf of the commissions appointed to visit Clutha, Warepa, and Waihola. Plans and specifications for a new manse in brick at Waitahuna (to cost £940), a cottage manse at Clydevale (to cost £300), and a new church at Ratanui (to cost £120) were submitted and approved, and application will be made for grants. The Rev. Mr Tylee reported tnat Mr Crockett had handed in hia resignation of Ratanui as from the end of April. The matter of securing a home missionary for Ratanui was left with Mr Tylee, acting with the convener of the Church Extension Committee. . The Rev. Mr MrUer moved that, in view of the coming licensing poll, the matter of no-license be brought before the officers of the different congregations, and that each congregation be recommended to be represented on the No-license League for the electorate, with a view to better organisar tion Seconded by Rev. S. W. Ourrie, and agreed to. . Sundry Assembly remits were dealt with, and recommended for adoption. The Rev. Mr Williams reported that Mr John Richards, home missionary, had been appointed to the Clydevale Home Mission Station in place of Mr Gilbert, who was leaving for the University. A commission of Presbytery, consisting of Messrs Spence (convener), W. T. Currie, and M'Lean, was anpointed to visit Owaka, and to report to next Presbytery. The Rev. Mr Blair moved, and the Rev. Mr Williams seconded, and it was agreed to —"That a committee, consisting of Messrs Miller (convener), Cuttle, and Reid, be appointed to arrange for part of next .Presbytery being given over to devotional services, or to a conference bearing on some aspect of church work."
