A STRIKE ENDED. LONDON, April 6. The strike at Singer's works has collapsed. The company, believing that a majority of the workers were in favour of returning, arranged a post-card ballot, promising that if 600 employees resumed the company would consider their grievances. Despite the Strike Committee's protests, the majority of the strikers notified their desire to return to work.

Only members contributing to the unions arc to benefit from the fund, payments from which will be made at the rate of £2 a week for the wife and 5s for each child of the imprisoned unionist. SYDSKV BOOT TRADE. SYDNEY, April 10. Trouble is brewing in the boot trade. Mr Johnstone (secretary of the Boot Trade Council) has resigned as a protest against the recent Wages Board award, which allowed the employment of women on ski.rving machines. The union claims that the work can bo done by apprentices, and that there is therefore no need to employ female labour. It threatens to call out the employees of the firms who persist in carrying the award into effect.
