The Waimate Borough Council some time- | back voted £IOO towards a four-faced clock i for the new post office, and the Government ! agreed to add chimes if a further £IOO was ' provided. Messrs J. Black, A. Adams, and I A. R. Manchester have between them, by 1 a vigorous canvass, practically collected the amount, their latest totals showing—Mr Black £6O Bs, Mr Adams £34 13s, Mr, Manchester £3 8s. —a tc-ial of £9B 9s, so that the- chimes may be considered certain to ring in Waimate.
