MOTOR CAR ACCIDENT.

A DOCTOR BADLY HURT. . CHRISTCHURCH, March 18. At an early hour this morning a somewhat serious accident happened in Colombo street, South Sydenham, near Tennyson and Strickland streets. Dr Terras Bell was driving his motor car down Colombo street, and when near Strickland street collided with a sanitary cart. The impact was a severe one, the front portion of the car being badly damaged. Dr Bell, who was alone in the oar, was pinned against the seat by the steering gear, and was unable to extricate himself from his unpleasant position. The cart had two men in attendance, and was carrying "the regulation lights, and was on its right side of the road at the time of the accident. The car ran right into the hors* imc'er its front legs, so that the animal waa piled up on the car alongside Dr Bell. The sound of the impact was naturally very loud, and a crowd of people .soon assembled from the neighbouring houses. Dr W. F. Browne, of Sydenham, was telephoned for, and he removed Dr Bell to his (Dr Browne's) home, as the injuries he had received were too severe to permit of his being taken at once to hi 3 own place. Dr Bell was" found to have three ribs broken and to have been badly cut about the hands and arms, besides sustaining a severe shock. The car was badly damaged, and the horse also con* siderably knocked about.
