fFaoif Our Own Correspondent.) GREYMOUTH, September 20. The local retailers report a falling off in trade compared with the corresponding month last year. Questioned as to the cause of the decline, none of them seemed able to etate any definite reason. The engineering trade is also very slack. There is no demand for unskilled labour, except at Otira and only an occasional man can be placed there. Very few local men, however, are out of employments There have been a good many inquiries at the local Labour Bureau, the most of those calling being from Christchurch and Wellington. In spite of the slackness this month, labour conditions appear very hopeful, and everything points to the coming summer bein;g a. busy one for the labouring community and tradesmen alike. West Coast sawmi Iters have orders on hand for eight million superficial feet for Australia;
