Fraser wrote stating that several owners of gardens in the city would be pleased to invite country visitors at show time to inspect their gardens, and stated that he had spoken to feveral gentlemen who were prepared to fall in with the suggestion.—lt was resolved to thank Mr Fraser for -the proposal, which would doubtless be welcomed by visitors to Dunedin at show time.

Mr C. J. Reakes. Chief Government Veterinarian, wrote stating that be would be pleased to arrang© for a veterinary examination for hereditary unsoundness in horses in connection with entries for the Otago Challenge Cup at the forthcoming horse parade, the examination to take place on Wednesday, 28th inst,—lt was resolved to thank Mr Reakes for kindly arranging matters for the society. S. Paterson a-nd Co. for the promised display, and to supply particulars of the competition. Messrs Lav in and Co., agents for the Lister Sheep shearing Machine Co., wrote stating that they would adviso the committee at an early date whether it, wou'ld be possible for them to make a (shearing display at the show or otherwise. The Secretary of the Forbury Park Trotting Club wrote stating that his committee had decided to award two special prizes ia addition to the ficriety's prize, for the following classes at the summer show:—Five guineas for best buggy horse ever 15 hands, to lie shown in harness and driven; five guineas for dog cart horse over 15.3 hands, to be shown in harness and driven.—lt \<as resolved to thank the Forbury Park Trotting Club heartily foi its generous donation to the prize-list of the'summer show.

Haelett, Dunedin; James Morrison, Inch Clutha; John Logan, Taieri County Council, Mosgiel Several members present expressed their gratification over the fact that the membership of the society was steadily increasing. ANNUAL HORSE PARADE. Excellent entries have been received for the Otago A. and P. Society's annual horse parade, which takes place at Tahuna Park on Thursday next. In the aged stallion class 34 horses have been entered from Canterbury to Southland, and competition is sure to be keen. In the three-year-old class there are 13 entries of very high-class horses. It would be a difficult matter to estimate the total value of the animals entered in the above two classes, and very keen interest should be taken in the parade from the fact that a considerable number of the animals to be exhibited have been recently imported from Great Britain. Though there are fewer entries in the two classes as compared with those of last year, the quality will be of the best. the past year many valuable draught stallions were exported to Australia, leaving this Dominion with considerablv fewer animals to travel the country. The exportation has also had the effect of reducing the entries for this week's parade. In the light horse classes competition will be keen, and some very fine animals have been entered. The Otago Challenge Cup for the best Clydesdale stallion, three years old or up- i wards, is still to be competed for. Two Go- | vernment veterinarians will examine the horses that have entered for the cup as "to freedom from hereditary unsoundness, and a certificate of soundness will afterwards be handed to the owners. The cup has to be won three times by an exhibitor, but not more than twice by one horse, not necessarily in consecutive years, before it becomes the absolute property of the winner It is pleasing to note, that a larger number j of horses have been entered by owners for the cup than last year. The judging of the horses will take place at Tahuna Park, i commencing at 11 a.m. The exhibit mim- j bers of the horses will be handed at the gate of the show ground to those in charge of the animals entered, and no animal will be admitted wjthout a ticket. For the ooriveyance of the public to the show . ground the tram arrangements will be good. The luncheon arrangements on the grounds will be in the capable hands of Mrs Beatson, Caversham. light refresh- j ments being also supplied by the caterer. Though numerically the number of entries is less than they were last year, for the reasons already stated, the quality of the exhibits will be about the best shown under the auspices of the Otago A. and P. Society at an annual horse parade. The following is a comparative list showing the entries for 1909 and 1910:

Draught stallions, aged Draught stallions, 3-year-old Carriage stallions Hackney stallions Trotting- stnllions Thorousrbhrcd stallions Pony etalliors 1909 ... 44 ... 21 ... 1 1 ... 4 ... 6 ... 2 1910 34 13 4 3 5 3 Totals ... . ... 79 62
