PAHIATUA LICENSING CASE.
WOODVILLE, September 22. The Pahiatua Licensing Committee was occupied nearly all day in the hearing of an application from William Pacey for a license for the Wimbledon Hotel. Over 20 witnesses were examined, a Urge number being from Levm, where the appUcant had previously resided. The com mittee took half an hour to arriveat to decision, which was against the applicantThe case was adjourned for a month to allow the owners to find a new tenant for the hotel. No costs were allowed. After the mid-day adjournment the chairman (Mr Reid, ft. 11.,) f «nimentea in severe language on the action of the secretary of the Dannevirke Football Sub-Union" in writing to one of the committee (Mr Harding), trying to influence his vote in favour of Pacey.
