NORTH AUCKLAND LINE.
PROGRESS CANNOT BE ACCELERATED. (Fb.ou Oca Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, September 18. During the course of his reply to a deputation from the North Island Railway League on Saturday, the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R, M'Kenzie) incidentally referred to the StratfordOngarue and North Auckland lines. These, he said, were being pushed on as fast as possible. Between £130,000 and £140,000 was being spent on the former, which was as much as the country could afford, even if the men were always available to wort pa the line*.
