The annual ploughing match under the auspices of the Waimate Ploughing Match Association was held on Thursday in a paddock kindly lont by Mr J. Foley, close to the railway station. The ground was suitable in every respect, save that it had been long enough in grass to consolidate the soil. Keen- interest was taken in the work of the 28 competitors, who were able to give a good display of their skill. The quality of the teams was excellent. All arrangements were of the bsst. and everything passed off smoothly, thanks to the energy of the secretary, Mr R. R. Rattray, and his committee. Results: — CLASS A (open).
