PUBLICATIONS RECEIVED

The September Windsor Magazine, to hand from Messrs R. J. Stark and Co., is a sumptuous holiday number, containing a long- story, complete in the one issue, by Justus Miles Forman, being the romantic history of a great lady of Trebizond. It is a powerful work, the reader's tensest interest being sustained to the close, and should prove one of the most successful of the author's stories. It is capably diustratod by Maurice Greiffenhagen. The short stories of the number are all by well-known writers, the authors including Eden Phillpots, Barry Pain, Charles G. D. Roberts, H. B. Marriott Watson, Marjorie Bowen, etc. The well-written serial of Canadian life, " Hawtrey's Deputy," by Harold Bindloss, is carried a stage further. Sir Home Gordon writes of politicians who <%re cricketers; and John E. Raphael deals with " Sage Go!f Problems." Twelve pictures are given illustrating the reign of King John in the " England's Story" series. The fine art section contains "12 artistic reproductions of landscapes and seascapes, by David Murray, R.A., together with a beautiful coloured plate of the artist's painting, " Meadow Sweets."
