BAND CONTEST COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the above committee was held in Mr E. S. Wilson's boardroom, Empire Buildings, last night, when there were present Messrs C. E. Keast (chairman), D. M'Pherson, J. Hogg, J. M'Callum, R. Hogg, E. Stratton, and D. Cooke. Apologies were received from his' Worship the Mayor (Mr T. Cole), Messrs A. Tapley. J. 11. Walker. J. Gray, A. Howarth, C. Speight, '\V. Nelson, and R. Cook.

Mr J. Morrison wrote stating that the oup offered by him as a discipline prize is to be awarded to any competing band affiliated to the South Island Bands' Association.

! The Lyttekon Band wrote stating that i solos for members of its band were being forwarded, and asking if the programme* could not be altered to comimence on the Monday evening. The secretary was, instructed to inform it that it was impossible to comply with its request regard. ig altering the programme. H Walker was appointed to ascertain the cost of suitable medals and report. Messrs R. Hudson and Co. have kindly 1 promised a five-guinea cash prize for bh» j band gaining most points for music in the quickstep selections.
