PAWELKA SENTENCED.

TWENTY-ONE YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT. PALMERSTON N., June 8. Pawelka was sentenced to 14 years for larceny and breaking and entering, and to seven years for arson at the High School, the sentence to be cumulative. - Prior to sentence being passed, accused said he was not guilty on all the charges, and pleaded for leniency. WELLINGTON, 'June 9. Pawelka has been brought down to Wellington Gaol. A Palmerston paper states that Pawelka did not realise that he had been sentenced to more than seven years, and it was only after he was got back to the cell that he learned what the sentence really meant, and he again collapsed. Soon afterwards he was taken to the train in a cab, and placed in a reserved compartment, handcuffed to his captor, Constable Gallagher.
