BALCLUTHA WINTER SHOW.

The third winter show under the auspices of the Clutha and Matau A. and P. Society, was held at Balclutha on Friday, when, in spite of showery weather, there was a large and appreciative attendance. A significant feature of the show was the Brooklands bay, being an exhibit from Mr John Willocks's farm at Inch Clutha. This- exhibit was in every way most interesting, from the photo of the old home as it was in 1854 to the exceptional merit of the 263 specimens of the products of the farm in 1910. A lamb (601 b) was flanked by a goose. (141 b). a turkey, and a hare. The pleasing style of arrangement of the bay showed the vast trouble taken in its preparation. Mr Willocks intended exhibiting •this bay at the Dunedin winter show, but found, the prize being only £5, that it was not worth while. He stated that it would cost hirr that sum to get it there. It is a pity that the Dunedin show should have missed securing such a creditable exhibit, which, at the same time, would have been a wide advertisement for Inch Clutha. There was a fine disnlav of choice apples by Mr C. E. Naish (Balclutha). This gentleman's pot plants also- proved an acquisition. Another feature was the magrifieent eolh'ction. of apples (37 varieties'" grown by Mr J. Crawford Anderson, of Stirling. The arrangements went off with oud a hitch, and dil credit to the executhi' ability of Mr T. M'Donald, secretary, and the committee.
