At Aldington there were fairly large

entries of stock, and a good attendance. Store sheep sold at about last week's rates. Fat iambs were irregular, but on the average prices showed an advance. Fat cattle were easier, in consequence of the heavy yarding. Fat wethers, except very prime, and inferior eyes opened at lower rates, but good, heavy ewes sold well. Pigs showed practically no change. Store cattle were dull of 6ale, but dairy cows were in demand.

The yarding of store sheep was somewhat belcw last week's in point of numbers. It consisted principally of lambs and a larger proportion of ewes than of late. There was not a very keen demand, and prices were about on the same level as last week. Lambs and wethers met with rather better inquiry, but ewes were dull of sals, a considerable proportion being from the North Island. Medium-conditioned wethers made 9s 6d to 12s lid, and small and lowconditioned halfbreds 9s 6d; well-grown lambs, 8s 9d to lis; medium, 7s 6d to 8s; and culls, 5s 7d to 7s; two, four, and sixtooth ewes, 10s to 10s 6d; and aged and broken-mouthed, 3s 9d to 6s.

The entry of fat lambs was somewhat larger than last week, totalling 10,283, the quality being very mixed. There was keen competition among' export buyers, especially in the early part of the sale, when there was a rise in prices, but afterwards values went back to last week's level. The range of prices was 15s 6d to 16s 6d; ordinary freezers, 12s 6d to 15s; light and unfinished, 10s 4d to 12s. There' was a very large entry of fat sheep, principally ewes. The few lines of prime wethers offered maintained their values, as did prime heavy ewes, but all other descriptions were easier, especially aged ewes. The range of prices was: Extra prime wethers, to 20s 9d; prime, 15s 6d to 18s 9d; medium, 13s 9d to 15s; light, 12s to 13s 6d; prime ewes, 14s 6d to 17s 6d; medium, 12s to 14s; aged, 7s 3d to lis 6d ; merino ewes, 6s lOd. The supply of beef totalled 352 head, a fair proportion being of very prime quality. The extent of the yarding had a depreciating effect upon prices as compared with last week. Steers made £7 5s to £ll 15s, and extra to £l2 12s 6d; heifers, £5 7s 6d to £8 10s; extra, to £ll 7s 6d; cows, £4 5s to £8 15s; extra, to £9 10s—equal to 24s 6d for extra prime; 20s to 22s 6d for prime, and 18s to 19s 6d for cow and medium quality beef per 1001 b. Veal calves made 4s 6d to 655, some well-grown animals being entered.

There was a moderate yarding of store cattle, which included some good lines of steers. There was a weak demand, and a considerable proportion of the offerings were passed. Fifteen to 18 months sorts made 50s; steers, £5; three-year steers. £5 15s to £6 7s; three-year heifers, £4 10s, and dry cows, 25s to £5 17s 6d. Dairy cows made £4 10s to £8 15s, and extra to £lO. . There was a medium entry of pigs, and there was practically no change in demand or price Choppers sold at 50s to 84s; large baco:. '" f o 545; and smaller, 35s to 42s 6d—equa. a; 4d to 4£d per lb; large porkers, 31s to 375; and smaller, 25s to 30s—equal to 4Ad per lb; large stores, 24s to 31s 6d; medium, 18s to 225; small, 9s to 16s; and weaners, 4s 6d to 10s.
