J Professor Benham .- (secretary of the Hocken Library.. Trustees) .wrote stating that the collection was now legally the property of the ■ council, but . since Dr Hocken had- added- to-- his generosity by intimating -that- hi 6 collection of Maori objects, or -at least' a part of it, would I also form part of his gift, it was resolved I to request the University Council to allow : the trustees 'to retain control of the whole collection, in" co-cpe'ratton with the council if desired, till all'the Maori objects I bad been installed. The trustees also asked! I the council to permit them to utilise so I much of the lower hall as might be necessary for the adequate accommodation and exhibition of these Maori objects.—Request! granted; Dr Hocken to be thanked. REPORTS. The Veterinary Committee reported hav- : ing inspected various sites offered as suitable for the Veterinary School buildincr at I Burnside, Musselburgh, and North-Eaet Valley, but resolved not to recommend any of these until it had been decided whether the abattoirs were to be removed from the present site.—Adopted. The committee appointed ro renort on I the Beverly .trust recommended that the proposals of the Trustees.
