OTAGO LAND BOARD.
The regular meeting of the Land Board, held on the 12th, was attended by Messrs E. H. Wilmot (Commissioner of Crown Lands), J. A. Macpherson, J. Tough, D. Barron, and G. Livingstone. . Adams Bros., on behalf of the Tautuku Sawmilling Company, applied for a. certificate of title ■ for sections 11 and 13, block VIII, Tautuku, at present held under cash certificate.—Approved. ' Ranger O'Neill reported that George Croft was not complying with the improvement conditions of his o.r.p. license 386, section 46, block 11. Glenomaru survey district. —Lessee to show cause before next meeting of the board why the lease should not be declared forfeited.
Ranger O'Neill reported that George C. Begg, holding sections 47 and 49, block 11, Glenomiaru, and William Lysaght, holding section 48, block 11. Glenomaru, were not complying with conditions, and the same decision as in the previous case was arrived at.
Ranger O'Neill reported on the application by William Bills for a yearly license over section 31, block VII. Glenomaru Quarry Reserve.—Granted, subject to conditions suggested by ranger. Ransrer O'Neill reported on section 20, block XIX, Clutha survey district, formerly held under village settlement conditions by James Field, jun.—To be offered at £2 per acre; valuation for improvements. £l4. Prudence W. Nicholson, applied for a renewable lease over 50 acres in blocly VII, Lauder district, at present under occupation, and also piece of land adjoining.— To await warden's report. Miss T. M. Wilson a.pplied for a license over sections 118 to 151, town of Ivamako. The late licensee also wrote asking that the sections might be burdened with valuation in his favour, or that he be allowed time after the land was let in which to remove his improvements.—Yearly license granted at 30s per annum, subject to satisfactory arrangements being made with the late licensee for fencing erected by him. The Secretary of the Otago Education Board applied to have part of allotments 17a. Kauroo Hill Settlement, set aside as a. school site.—W. L. Scott, lessee.—Recommended that five acres be set aside as a school site.
Ranger Atkinson reported on the application of The Borough of Palmerston for the removal of the reservation from section 13. block XVII, and sections 5 to 8, block XX. and the transfer of these sections to the borough.—Reservation to be removed, section 5 to 8 to be offered for auction at £lO per section. Recommended that section 13 be altered to municipal reserve, and vested in the Borough Council.
The Receiver of Land Revenue recmested the board to deal with the valuation "for improvements on section* 32a and 38a, Kauroo Hill.—£2s to be paid to Mrs L. A. Lowe.
George W. Clarke applied for a grazinsr license over Quarry Reserve, sections 10 and 12, block VIII, Tautuku.—Granted at 10s per annum.
John MI. Ellis, lessee of allotment Ba, Otekaike Settlement, applied for permission to take off another white crop on portion of the land. —Granted; land to bo left eown in grass. _ • James Martin applied for a, yearlv license over a small area in Hill's Creek township.—Granted at ">s per annum. The board fixed the capital values on the kind in the following- applications: Application 4880, J. Walks, section 123, block 11, Teviot. 20s per acre: application 3473. A.'H. Tamblyn, section 122, block 11. Teviot 20s per acre; application 3474, M. Elliott, sections 121, 124. block 11, Teviot, 20s per aero.-' -Applications referred to Governor for approval.
Ranger O'Neill reported that Henry Robinson was not complying with the residence condition of his lease of section 56, block I. Warepa, held under l.i.p. 1428. Exemption from residence granted during tho pleasure of the board. Ranger O'Neill reported that George Blown Inglis Gun.n was not complying with the residence condition of his lease of section 58, block I, Warepa, held under p.l. 135, v.s.s.— To show cause why his lease should not be declared forfeited.
Ranger O'Neill reported that Andrew H. Kilgour was not complying with the improvement condition of his o.r.p. license 367 over section 50, block ll.] Glenomjaru, or with the residence condition of his o.r.p. license 355 over sections 51 and 52, block 11, Glenonraru. —To slioav cause why his lease .should not be forfeited.

Bernstone's application for section 28, block VIII, Gatlins, formerly held under p.l. 975 by the late Robert Paterson. —Report adopted. Ranger O'Neill reported on Mary E. 'Wither's application for a license to occupy unsurveyed land at Waipori and Maungatua. —Application declined. Reports were received from the warden •and the ranger on Philip D. Smith's application for an occupation lease in block VII, Leaning Rock survey district.— Granted, the area .applied for less the area already granted under temporary license to Mr Drummey, surveyor to fix capital value. The application of Jane Stevenson for an occupation lease over an area in block XI, Skippers Greek survey district, was declined, the warden's report being unfavourable.
Consideration was given to a letter from Robert Love with regard to the tenancy of sect k is 10 and 11, block VIII, Tiger Hill survey district: Present lessee to effect necessary improvements and aiiange for a transfer. . Jacob London, who was lately granted a yearly license over road reserve above railway bridge at Duntroon, asked for some assistance towards clearing the ground of the trees upon it.—Referred to chief surveyor.
Messrs Brodrick and Chalmer applied on behalf of F. J. Dalgety for pel-mission to transfer license over a, site for accommoda-tion-house at Lindis.—Approved. Messrs Brodrick and Chalmer applied on behalf of James Grant for a 21 years' lease over the land now held under license No. 1642. as .site for accommodation-house at Lindis.— I Granted as from present date; rental, £1 per annum.
The Otago Land Board met again on Wednesday. A report on the condition of the drains on Settlement was referred to Brice County Council.
Ranger O'Neill reported on the application of Charles Gallager for a miscellaneous license over area between Manu-heril-a Township and the river.—Yearly license granted at 5s per annum. An application ,vas received from Messrs F. Little wood and A. E. Gill for a lease of the island in the Clutha River, opposite sections 10, 11, and 12, block IX, Inch Clutha, and also a .small area of the river reserve in the Clutha Island itself.— Yearly license granted at £lO Is, subject to consent of County Council. Messrs Brodrick and Chalmer applied on behalf of A. Aitkenhead for a license over an area fronting sections 2 to 5, block 11, South Molyneux. —Referred to ranger. An application v«as received from R. J. Mitchell for grazing license over the,area adjoining the school section at Matakanui.— Yearly license was granted at 10s per annum.
A. Cook asked that sections in block IX, Livingstone Township, be again offered at auction. —Unsold sections in Livingstone to be offered at auction at upset value of £3 each.
Mr John M'Ewan applied for an area of land situated near the Albert Town punt.— Applicant to'furnish a sketch of the posi : tion.
The Clutha County Council applied for the use of section 41, block I, FomahakaS.D.— County Council to be offered license over area surrounded by roads at 5s per annum, subject to Mr Hooker being allowed to retain area now occupied.
Sievwright, Haggitt, and Co., on account of a client, asked that a lease of section 15, block XIII, Moeraki, be put up to public auction.—Referred to ranger for report. R. K. Smith applied for permission under section 244 of "The Land Act, 1908," to erect two miles of boundary fencing (rabbit proof), between Runs 236 L and 236 M.— Board granted permission if adjoiningowner consented.
Mrs L L. Munro applied for an area at the junction of the Otamatata and\Waitaki Rivers (cash purchase), Run 243 a.— Referred to the district surveyor to report. ' . On consideration as to the capital value of O. L. exchanges to renewable lease, it was decided that this should be fixed on a 5 per cent, basis. . John Cockburn, lessee of Run 330 e, S.G.R., Kawarau, applied to have the Kakarau Station freehold, now his property, accepted as the homestead for Run 330c—Referred to chief commissioner. John Martin Nicholas Frater applied to purchase three acres unsurveyed land in block I, Fraser district.—Approved; capital value 10s per acre. Consideration of re-granting temporaiy license over Runs 200, 200 a, 200 b, and 200 c, licensee, Mrs A. M. B. F.
