• NEW PLYMOUTH, April 1. The manager of the Taranaki Petroleum Company reported to the directors tonight that, though the gale had played havoc with the derricks, it had not damaged the machinery. He expected to have Nos. 1 and 2 repaired and ready to resume work on Tuesday, and No. 3 at the end of the week. Since Friday last, whilst the bores were closed down, somo 90 barrels of ' oil had been eecurec* 31 No. 2, having flowed of its own Accord between the casings, and from March 12 to March 24 45 barrels at No. 3. From January 5 to date No. 2 has never ceased its flow of oil and water, with silt generally.
