The deaths in February were 233, an increase of 6 on the number in January. Of the total deaths, males contributed 130 and c emales 103. Ninety-eight per cent, of the deaths were of children under five yea vs of age, being 42.06 par cent, of the whole number. Eighty-six of these wore under one year of age. There were 56 death- of persons of 65,years and _upwards. Eight men (65, 69, 59 73. 74. 75, 76. 78) and four women (68, 71. 74, 83) died air Auckland; four men (66, 68, 76, 78) and five women (68, 77. 80. 81, 86) at Wellington: 10 men I (65, 67. 69. 70 . 72 . 72, 74, 74. 75, 89) and j four women. (76, 78, 80 83) at Christchurch) : and nine men (65, 63, 70. 71, 71, 75, 82, 83. 85) and 12 women (66 67, 68. 69. 69, 69, 73, 74, 80, 81, 82, 91) .at Dunedin.
