The ordinary meeting of the Otago Dock Trust, held on the 22nd, was attended by the chairman. (Mr A. Cable) and Messrs Barclay, Denniston, Godfred, De Maus, Bullock, and Sutton. Mr Barclay was elected to the chair in the earlier oart of the .meeting, owing to the unavoidable temporary absence' of the chairman. SCOTT BROS.' CLAIM. Messrs Duncan, Cotterill, and Stringer, under date February 28, wrote stating that Messrs J. L. and G. Scott had handed them the trust's letter of January 23. in which was intimated the trust's refusal to accept the offer- made for settlement of its claim in connection with the dock contract. The writers regretted the failure of the negotiations for a settlement, which left no alternative . but to resort to "proceedings' at law. It was presumed that Mr Platts, solicitor for the trust, would accept service of the writ which it was the intention to issue without delay.—The letter was received, .and at & later stage of the meeting Mr J. L. Scott had a conference with the trust on the matter-, the proceedings being conducted in committee, and witnout orejudice to either side. The conference, it is . understood, may result in fresh negotiations being opened up for an amicable settlement. REPORTS. The Dockmaster (Mr E. Knewstubb) reported that since last meeting four vessels had been docked —two in the Otago dock and two in the graving dock. The decking on the sheerlegs wharf was getting into a bad state, and wouJd require .renewing shortly.—Adopted; the matter of decking wharf to be referred to the Works Committee.
