SMART POLICE CAPTURE.

DETECTIVE BODDAM SCORES NEW PLYMOUTH, March 28. A smart piece of police detective work was performed on Sunday night. During the evening a house occupied by Mr Stampoole was burglariously entered during a half hour's absence of the occupier, and about £lB was stolen from a trunk onened with a key taken from a pocket in the room, then a bedroom in a neighbouring boarding-house was entered and a sum of money stolen from a pair of trousers under a oillow, whereon a man was sleeping. Detective Boddam was roused by Constable O'Neill at midnight, and two hours later had a Minn named James Baldwin arrested in bed in another boarding-house with the booty in his Possession.
