Mr Harold -Ash-ton,- who accompanied the company from Sydney, has been much interviewed by the local press, and he is satisfied that "Peter Pan" will be found just to the New Zealand taste. And Harold ought to know. He also says that he made arrangements whilst in America for two musical comedies for' production in Australia,' but he will not divulge the titles.

Mr' Ashton will not remain long in New Zealand, as his services are required at headquarters. Mr George D. Portus, the genial one, has been appointed to Williamson's managerial staff, and arrives here on Monday, via Auckland, and will take up tho reins of management. Mr Alf. Linley,- of West's Royal Pictures, went down to Christchurch this week to be present at the opening of West's new theatre there on Thursday. The King's Theatre in this town has been drawing crowded houses since the opening. The Besses o' th' Barn Band return her© for Easter, and play at the Athletic Park and Day's Bay during the holidays. Montgomery's Picture Company has returned to town, and is at present resting. Heir Ben no Scherek was a passenger from Sydney this week. He is here in the interest • of. Madame Car.reno. Huge Gorlitz is'also in town, in connection with Dr Harriss's Sheffield Choir visit.

Mr Leo de Chateau is Busily engaged in rnaching "The Mountebanks" in "Lady Huntsworth's Experiment." which is to be staged, at the Opera House on the first possible opportunity. The permanent picture and. vaudeville houses are doing as well as ever.
