BLUESKIN CALEDONIAN SPORTS.

The fifth annual sports meeting of the Blueskin Caledonian Society took place at Waitati on Monday under ideal weather conditions. Most of the events produced good fields, and, thanks to the handicapping of Messrs G. Collie, E. Kemp, and M. Beasley, a large percentage of the events resulted in very close finishes, and there were no protests lodged. The Palmerston. Brass Band (under Conductor Kitchen) enlivened 'the proceedings very agreeably with musical selections, and altogether the meeting was a distinct success. MAIDEN RACE, 150yds. Ten entries. First heat: B Murray 1, W. Harbrow 2. Also competed: M'Queen and Brown. A good finish, a yard separating each of the placed men. Time 18 2-ssec. Second heat: K. M'Lennan 1, Payne 2. Also started: Morris, Matheson, and Robson. Won by 10 yards, other competitors finishing in. a bunch. Time, 17 2-ssee. Final.—K. M'Lennan 1, W. Harbrow 2, B. Murray 3. M'Queen 70yds, Gibb ll 70yds, and Morris 70yds. Holmes steadily gained on the limit men and attained a strong lead in the last lap, winning by 20 yards, 10 yards separating the second and third competitors. Time, 4mi'n 54sec.
