A girl, aged nine, named M'Kay, residing at Katoomba (N.S.W.), -was killed by a kick from a horse. She was coasting down a hill on a " billy cart," when she raw into a horse, which kicked her oa tha forehead. The Commissioner of Police is to be asked by the Wellington Education Board to arrange for an official inquiry into the origin of the fire which destroyed the school buildings at Pahiatua. A petition has been numerously signed in the Hastings district praying the Government to take over the late Mrs G. P. Donnelly's property at "Waimarama—about 6000 acres.
