BERLIN, March 7.

On the understanding that the Socialists intended to make, a franchise demonstration at Treptow, a party of Berlin police aeeembled to prevent it. The newspaper "Vorwarts, however, announced that a franchise promenade would take place instead. While a few kept the Treptow police busy, between 50,000 and 100,000 inarched to the Tiergarten, sang the "Marseillaise," and unfurled the revolutionary ensign on the Reichstag steps. The crowd was becoming desperate, when the mounted police charged, up the steps. A section marched to Treptow. Park and tried to break the cordon of police. The mounted gendarmerie immediately charged, the latter discharging carbines and the police using their revolvers and sabres. Twenty-five of the demonstrators were wounded.
