PUBLICATIONS RECEIVED
We are in receipt of Whitaker's Alroaaiao for 1910. Such books of reference are indispensable to writers and publicists, and a great convenience to numerous others. Human interests cover an immense field, and no memory that is not phenomenal can recall all facts, dates, names, etc., for instant use. It is therefore highly convenient to have at or.e'6 elbow a reliable source from which the information can be promptly obtained. Such, a one is Whifeaker'e. The volume for 1910 is fully up to date, and ibring3 events down, almost to the close of last year. It deals satisfactorily with such burning questions a® naval progress, the army, old-age pensions, aeronautics, and others. Every such book has some particular features for recommendation, and among them all Whitaker's is well in front. The Daily Mail Year Book for 1910 is in a different, but not less commendable, clai?s. It is a model of brevity audi jet fulness. The art of compression and of systematic arrangement has. here reached l as near perfection as is, humanly speaking, possible. The object of the book, it is claimed, is to provide the reader of the paper, the student of politics and life, and the man who desires to know, -nth the essential facte necessary to understand the chief qu.astions of the day —the things that matter, and that make for the health of the State.
