SENSATIONAL INCIDENT.
A PLUCKY LAD. AUCKLAND, January 6.
A rather sensational incident occurred at Ponsonby yesterday afternoon. Mr Henry Jennings, of Gisborne, who, with his wife, has been spending a holiday in Auckland, went to the Sentinel road beach to- have a swim. While in the water he was seized with a fit. A lad named Eric Greenhough, who is only 12 years of age, swam to his assistance, and held his head up ' for some minutes. Then three young men, named H. Smith, F. Filmer, and G. Campbell, set off to the rescue in a pulling boat, and succeeded in bringing Mr Jennings to the shore. Dr Madsom was soon in attendance, and after some thne Mr Jennings was recovered sufficiently to enable him to be removed to his lodgings. He had been subject to fits, but had not .had a similar seizure for over six months There were a number cf people on the beach at the time, and they speak in high terms of the pluck and presence of mind of the lad who went to the rescue. The ltitle fellow was almost exhausted with his efforts by the time he reached the shore.
