THE MONO-RAIL
LONDON, November 11. Mr Brennan Very successfully ran a gyroscopic car 40ft long and 10ft wide, on which he carried 40 passengers, on a mono-rail. He used two gyroscopes oi 3£ft diameter, going at 3000 revolutions per minute. The passengers changed sides while the car was in motion. Mr Brennan contemplates introducing the mono- rail system in Australia, with carriages 150 ft long, 20ft broad, and having two storeys. BERLIN, November 12. Augustus Scherl has exhibited in this city a mono-rail gyroscopic car for carrying six passengers. Mr^ Brennan has been at work on hifi mono-railway for the past few yeara; and on May 8. 1907,** he exhibited it before the Royal Society at Burlington fiouse, London. By means of an ingenious application' of the principle of" the gyroscope, a railway vehicle w ijiade ,to run on a. single rail apparently without the slightest ' .danger of falling over, and with euoh et ability ac to take snaro curves or remain upright when not propelled. Two years ago it was announced that the Indian Government had voted the inventor £6000, and it was understood that it was prepared to construct 200" miles of line wheq he was in a position to go ota with tht work-.
