In the course of his presidential address to the Institute of Bankers, Mr Frederick | Hugh Jackson emphasised' the statement I th/it the country's currency now consisted I largely -of cheques. He wa« glad to think 'that bankers recognised that stronger reserves of gold were desirable, in order to protect this currency. Those supplying the currency should, in his opinion, provide gold reserves.
