OTAGO FARMERS' HORSE BAZAAR.
'.the Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association of New Zealand report: — We held our weekly tale of horses at our Bazaar on Saturday, when, we had a capital attendance ••£ the public from country and town. The -:>J"ge attendance was, no doubt, owing to the fact that, although farmers are well forward "wi^h their work, they anticipate a, rise in prices in the near future, while contractors and town carriers are strengthening their teams. The sale was one of t;»e be3t we tave had for some time, an imprbvement in values being very apparent, especially for medium-weight young clifty geldings, which for some time have shown a prominence in values and usefulness, as against the big, heavy, half-bred " shire " gelding' of ('ays gone by. The feature of Th% auction was a consignment bf geldings. a':l five and 4fx-ycars-oid, owned and bsed by Mr A". "W Clark, of Centre Bush, Southland, and a consignment from Mr Hajtes, ol Moonlight. These comprised very fine mares and geldings, all of which we're disposed of under the hammer at very satisfactory prices. Other consignments from the country 'sold well, and a good number of Jocal horses, both light and heavy, were -Arell competed lor,' and a considerable change in ownership was effected. Nearly two-thirds of the whole of our entry of 45 draught mares and geldings, vanners, spring-carters, light-harness and hackney horses went to fresh stables, thus showing a good all-round demand for young, fresh horses. Consignments came from Wright's Bush (Western district), Moonlight, Glenpark, Hampden, Clinton, North Taieri, Middlemarch, Hyde, Milton, East Taieri, Hillend, HiHeide, Green Island, Waitati, Ranfurly, Peninsula, etc. iWe quote: Good young draught mares, at from £38 to £45; extra good Clydesdale mares, suitable for stud purposes, £45 to 80 guineas; superior young draught geldings, fit for shaft and lorry work, £38 to £48, extra to £55; ordinary draught mares and geldings, at from £23 to £38; aged draughts, at from £10 to £20; good strong, upstanding vanwers, at from £26 to £33.; heavy spring-carters, at from £20 to £27 10s; ordinary 6pring-carters. at from £15 to £20; qpetanding buggy mares and geldings, from £16 to £25: hackneys and cob ponies, from £8 to £15.
