Goldfen-' stedt); read the annual-r eport,* which wasas follows: — " In presenting the annual report for the year 1909 the association is to be oongr*tu» lattcT-oifr the success of the year's operations. Although there was ft falling off m regards the entries, which might be accounted for by there being a counter-attraction in South--land at the. same time, it is .gratifying to know that the meeting 'was a financial success. The receipts include affiliation feea, £6; Government grant, 245; entries, £114; challenges, £5 2s 6d;'and interest, £1 16 a lid;— total, £171 19s 5d- \As against thiE, .an expenditure of £185 6s 2d, including £15 gfant to the Range Committee and £5 5s grant to tho retiring secretary. The total amount to the credit of the association now stands at £38 Is 9d. The thanks of the coiunittee is due to the Dunedin Engineers, who constructed the field telephone trader .the able direction of Sergeant J21 l is ; and also to Captain Proudfoot, who rendered such valuable sendees as principal range officer and assistant to »he secretary. In respect of the ufee of the new ' aperture sights, wrhieh. have been sanctioned by the New Zealand •Defence Bine Association, as the result of a deputation to Major Hughes by Australian riflemen, it might he recommended to the incoming committee that these sights bo allowed at the next meeting of the association.

The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, pointed out that their finances vrew fairly satisfactory, but the object of the association was not to show a '«rgv cash balance but to distribute their funds to encourage rhip iiKjmbcxs of the association.
