WEDDING AT MOSGIEL
A wedding of unusual local interest was celebrated on Wednesday last in the new Presbyterian Church, Mosgiel, when Miss Jenny Enmui, only daughter of the late Mr W Beveridge, of innerleUhen, Peebleslme, Scotland, was married to Mr Q. J> F'aacr,
of Dunedin. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and^ a large crowd of onlookers assembled to witness the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. J. Aitken, M.A. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr J. Campbell, wore a beautiful dress of white silk taffetas handsomely embroidered in silver and pearls, and carried a shower bouquet of white lilies. She was - attended by two bridesmaids (Miss Cuddie and Miss Henderson, Dunedin). Both wore pretty Empire frocks of ivory silk crys*aline surmounted by hats of Wedgewood blue daintily trimmed with violets and forget-me-nots, and carried clusters of white 'irises. The bridegroom was supported by Messrs J. Fraser as best man and W. Kirkland as groomsman. Mra Beveridge, mother of the bride, was attired in a beautiful robe of black seqxiin net over lavender yilk, while Mrs Fraser wore a handsome dress of black silk richly trimmed with lace to match; Mrs Campbell wore a very pretty dress of blue silk with dainty velvet trimmings; Mrs C. Findlay, jun., Wedgewood blue braided l in black; Mrs Stand, grey silk voile; Mrs Cheyne (Invercargill), pale green costume; Mrs Aiken, gureen silk; Mrs Wilkinson, white embroiderea muslin; Mrs A. M'Leod, black silk; Mrs M'Kinnon, white muslin ; Mrs j Wood, an exquisite robe of embroidered chiffon made from tEe banana tree fibre over pale green silk; Miss Findlay, crimson silk trimmed with black; Miss Kirkland, white eilik; Miss Henderson, cream serge costume; Miss Shand, white muslin; Miss •Fraser, cream silk; Miss Thomson, rosecoloured voile; Miss Stevenson, white costume, lace coat; Miss M"Leod, pink- silk; Miss Johnston," white embroidered muslin. Amongst those present were: — Dr and Mrs Cattan, Mrs C. Fdndlay, sen., Mr and Mrs Henderson, Mr and Mrs R. Cuddie, Mr and Mrs Cameron, Miss Binnie, Miss Lymburn, Miss Smellie, Miss D. Stevenson, and Messrs J. Lusk, R. Findlay, Wilkinson, M'Kinnon, Cheyne, J. Smellie. After the ceremony the guests were entertained by Mrs Beveridge ! at the church hall, where the wedding i breakfast was partaken of. The usual toasts customary on such an occasion were I honoured, and shortly *fter the happy couple | left for their honeymoon, amid showers of rice and confetti, and with many good wishes for their future happiness. The bride's j ' travelling costume was of brown serge ! braided to match, with a becoming hat of cream leghorn trimmed with velvet and handsome ostrich tips of brown. WEDDING A.T OAMAKTT. A very pretty wedding was solemnised at Ardgowan, North Otago, on Tuesday, November 9, the contracting parties being Mr T. S. M'Kenzie (of Messrs Milligran and Bond, Oamaiu) and Miss Margaret Elizabeth (Maggie) Cottingham. The bride, who was given away by her father, Mr G. Cottingham, looked very winsome in her frock of cream silk voile. She wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried a very pretty bouquet of white lilac, clematis, and maiidenhair fern, the gift of Misses Milne and Turnbull. The bride was attended by three bridesmaids—Misses E. T. H. M. Paul, F. Jackson, and L. Symons, — who were all prettify attired. Miss Paul wore cream «ilk lustre with point lace trimmings, pink hat, and carried a bouquet of pink and white flowers (the gift of Mrs Milne); Miss F. Jackson wore whits embroidered delaine, white hat, and carried a blue and white floral bouquet; Miss L. Symons wore a, blue frock, while hat, and floral bouquet. E*ch bridesmaid wore gifts from the bridegroom — Misses Paul and Jackson gold brooches, and Miss Symons &■ gold pendant. The bridegroom's -present to- the bride was a beautiful gold bangle. Mr J. M'Kenzie acted in the capacity of best man. The ceremony, which took place at the residence of the bride's parents, was conducted by the Rev. Mr Roseveare in the presence of a large ■asrembla.ge of ftriends and relations. After the ceremony "Mr and Mrs ,Cottiin^ham held a reception in a large marquee, which Had been erected on the' lawn for the purpose, and a goodly number of guests sat down to partake of their host and hostess's hospitality. Among the toasts which were honoured were: "Th« Bride and Bridegroom." "Bridesmaids," and "Parents of the Bride," the latter oi which waa proposed by his Worship the Mayor (Mr R. Milligan) and rosponded to by Mr Cottingham. The happy couple left by the second express for the- j north, en route to Wellington, where th«ir honeymoon will be spent, amidst showers of rice, roseleaves, and congratulations of the crowd who had gathered fco bid them j adieu. The bride's travelling dress was ft beautiful green costume, and she wore a, charmingly pretty pink hat. The presents, of which there were a large number, were bath handsome and useful, and were much admired. A most enjoyable social and dance in the evening brought the proceedings to a close.
