Monday Evening. ■ On Monday, Bth inst, the Dnnedia Art ■ Society's annual exhibition of pictures was opened in the Art Gallerj buildings. Owing to it being a public holiday, the attend1 knee on Monday was extremely poor. As there are a num&er of exceedingly good pictures on the w-a.Ha this ye»r, it is bo be hoped the public will patronise the exhibition more frequently while it is open. There are a great number of works from -the hand of Sad Long, Julian Aahton, Duportal, Tmdall, J. H. Young, Towoxth, Hanson, etc. The exhibition was opened by the ■ president, Mr G. Joachim. On Friday afternoon Miss Joachim! invited a number of friends to afternoon tea at her "bindery" in Bond street, to inspect the work done by her during the year. Everyone waa enabled to see the very artistic books, "frames, etc.. which Miss Joachim arranged and bound. A. great many purchases were made, and afternoon tea was much enjoyed in the room leading off the bindery. The table was prettily decorated with, columbines. Those present were: — The Primate and Mrs Neville, Sir James Mills, Mr and Mrs Fels, Mr Quick, Mr and Miss' Chamberlain. Mr and Mrs de Beer, Mrs Ulrich, Mxs MacGowan, Mrs Maitland, Mrs Bufcterworth, Mra Elmore (England), Mrs Batchelor.
