WELLINGTON.
Mr Riddell, S.M., on the 10th sentenced Francis Brosnahan, charged with conducting a disorderly house, and Annie Brosnahan, charged with assisting in the management of the house, to six weeks'imprisonment each. . At the instance of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, JohnBurners was fined £4 for leaving a heifer by the roadside to starve from Monday to Friday. The 'animal wae found unable to walk, and with its tdngue hanging out and practically alive with maggots.
