PROTEST FROM AUCKLAND. *■ \ ■ AUCKLAND, November 15. At a public meeting of members of turn-* rerance societies and others to-night th,o following resolution, moved by Mr W« Richardson, and -seconded by Mr J. Walsh, was carried :— " Thai this meeting protest? against the compact recently made witU the Liquor party by the officials of the New Zealand Alliance, on th« ground that. 1 the prohibition of the Iquor traffic is a national question^ and the- policy of the movement should not be dictated by a small clique or section of the" party, but» by a colonial convention representing all sections of the people. " Further, it affirms that no legislation will be satisfactory that does not make the issues of both local- and? Dominion option determinabk by a bare v majority, to take effect at no longer an interval afterwards than at present ob-; tains, and it appeals to the New Zealand? Alliance to make it clear to the Government and -Parliament that no compromise of the just fights of the people In this respect will be accepted by the No^licensa pai-ty."
