BREWERS' EXHIBITION
LONDON, October 18. Speaking at the opening of the Brewers' Exhibition, Mr G. Taibrum, chairman "of the Hop Trade Association, stated that only 32,539 acres of hops were grown in Great Britain in 1909, and that a still further decrease is likely. Mr Kirkpatrick, the South Australian Agent-g.eneral, said tliat if England would only apply to Tasmania she could supply all the hops required. The excellent displays made by New South Wales a,nd South Australia, of wine and produce are attracting attention. At the exhibition there are 77 entries of colonial wines for competition. October 19. At the Brewers' Exhibition four firsts and one second prize were awarded to New South Wales for wines, and three fir.sts, five seconds, and six thirds to South Australia.
