PHOTOGRAPHED IN HAWKE'S BAY. NAPIER, October 19. H"ill*y'fi comet was photographed iant Thursday at the Meeanee Observatory, but the impression was so extremely faint t.hat its discovery was not made publi". Tnis morning another aitempt wae mad*, inci easing the exj>O6iiie frcm one ar.d a-half to two and a-half hours, and this time the comet is cleaily defined on the negative. Some time will elapse before th« comet ia visible through even tho largest telescopes. Th» exposure thi? morning began at 1.15 and ended at 3.45, when the near approach ot dawn rendered furthtr work impossible.
