THE LICENSIN G LAW.
QUESTIONS RAISED AT MASTERTON MASTLRTON, October 19. Mr Pownall, solicitor for the defendant in the recent liquor case, where a fine was. imposed for keeping liquor for sale, states that hs will probably test the point raised by him that Ma.=>terton is not- a no-lioenso district, as th-e insult of the recount was never published, and -t&nsequently the electors had no opportunity of objecting to any alleged irregulamios within 14 days, as provided by the act. Tfc is contended that the- electors would .still have the right of objection if the recount were published now, and if the Licensing Committee iefuses to sit he will apply for a. mandamus compelling them to •do so.
